Abu Dagga’s last photograph was of the hospital, minutes before she was killed. Her photograph is densely embedded with information both about this incident of genocidal violence, and about her journalistic, narrative methods. Using this photograph, I’ve created a texture-mapped model of Nasser Hospital that maintains material information and identifies people. The model also approximates Abu Dagga’s position and view.
Through researching the unprecedented journalistic violence in Palestine and situating it within the political economy of western mass media, this project produces an open source database that spatializes and geolocates content shared by the hundreds of martyred journalists. Using the database, l’ve developed a series of models and maps visualizing Gaza through the martyrs’ reports.
